The first Tolbert's Chili Parlor I went to was not the one downtown on Main Street, but the second one on Cole, just south of Knox. Frank X. Tolbert, once a columnist for The Dallas Times Herald, helped put Terlingua on the map with chili cookoffs. But the recipe used in the Chili Parlors belonged to his son, Frank X. Tolbert2, or
X2 for short. The lone Chili Parlor is now in Grapevine. But a frozen version of "A Bowl of Red" is now available at Whole Foods Market. Locations. A 16-ounce container costs $5.99.
